Affiliate Disclosure
Plain English. No legalese. Updated May 15, 2026.
What we do
Some product placements on the Best Smoke Days forecast and on related Pitmaster Tools pages are affiliate links. If you click one of those links and end up buying something from the merchant, Pitmaster Tools may earn a small commission. The price you pay is the same either way — the merchant pays us, not you.
We label every affiliate placement with a visible disclosure adjacent to the link, in
compliance with the FTC Endorsement Guides.
Affiliate links also carry rel="sponsored nofollow noopener" so search engines
and your browser both know they're sponsored.
What we don't do
- We don't change scores based on affiliate revenue. The 0-100 smoke score for each day is computed from weather data only — temperature, wind, rain probability, wet-bulb temperature, and your cooker type. No advertiser, affiliate program, or paid partner influences the math. The scoring inputs and weights are summarized in the FAQ on the Best Smoke Days page; a dedicated methodology page is on the roadmap and will land alongside the rest of the smoke-weather feature set.
- We don't choose recommendations based on commission rate. The product shown beneath each forecast is selected by a deterministic rule keyed on your cut, cooker, and the score band of the best day — not the size of the affiliate commission.
- We don't sell your data. Affiliate clicks land on the merchant's site; Pitmaster Tools does not pass your ZIP, cut, cooker, or any other input along with the click. The merchant only sees what their referral parameters carry, the same as any other outbound link.
Programs we participate in
As of the date above, we are evaluating affiliate relationships with the major BBQ-gear merchants. When a program is live and the link is signed, it goes into the recommendation table; until then the slot may show a recommendation with no clickthrough — just the product name and the reason it fits your cook.
